This bright juicy red wine fruity touch gives him a light-hearted personality, although he does not lack character. Otherwise, it is friendly and fresh, with aromas of red berries, a touch of vanilla, and very subtle tannins.
After completing his training in viticulture and oenology in Bordeaux, in 2009 Xavier Iturria founded Bodegas Iturria in San Román de Horinja, on the eastern edge of the DO Toro.
The vineyard is located in Morales de Toro, with an age between 20 and 60 years and extends over an area of 5 hectares in clay, limestone and sandy soil. The entire vineyard is planted as bush vines ("en vaso") and without grafting (as there is no phylloxera). At 700 meters of altitude, this vineyard enjoys a continental climate with a thermal amplitude that favors the ripening of the grapes.
They follow biodynamic farming principles without herbicides, pesticides, nor synthetic fertilizers.
