100% Pinot Noir.
The 2017 Savigny-les-Beaune Premier Cru Les Talmettes displays an attractive bouquet of spices, wild plums, dark chocolate and sweet soil tones, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample palate that's quite broad shouldered and layered at the core, with succulent acids and a mouthwateringly bitter finish. It's a success.
"The 2017 vintage has produced a generous crop of charming, expressive wines at Domaine Simon Bize et Fils, succulent and supple Savingys that will be—in many cases—hard to resist out of the gates. Shrewd readers will pay special attention to the estate's whites, the most successful since 2014 at this address. As usual, whole cluster vinification is the order of the day, and the wines' spicy-floral aromas and filigree tannins are marked by its distinctive signatures. I also revisited several 2016s from bottle, and entirely concur with Chisa Bize in thinking it a stunning vintage for the domaine, the finest in red since 2010. Complex, intense and utterly classic, Bize fans will want to make a special effort to seek out whatever bottles they can find, as the wines are simply magical."
