"Soft red fruits, herbs and cedar come through easily on the round, juicy, spice-nuanced, red berry nose and palate. Fresh and savory, give it just a few years of age and it will be showing even better.

The Wine Cellar Insider : 89-91."

Charmail owes its name to its history, which dates back to the 16th century, namely the Trevey de Charmail family who settled in the Médoc at that time. The estate's fame, however, dates back to the beginning of the 18th century.

Olivier Sèze takes the reins of the estate into his own hands. Visionary and demanding, within a few years, he breathes a real style into it and makes it a solid value of the Haut-Médoc. Vintage after vintage, for nearly 30 years, he vinifies with conviction and talent magnificently balanced wines.

In 2008, Bernard d'Halluin, a Northerner raised on Bordeaux, realizes his dream of venturing into wine. In search of an estate in the Bordeaux region, he falls truly in love with Charmail. The two men, driven by the same passion, form a complementary duo in service of the estate for several years.

In 2021, an association takes up the torch of the Grand Charmail project, which aims to restore the original Charmail. The association is composed of Bernard d'Halluin, the Goudet-Liquard family, and Sébastien Pineau, the great winemaker of Charmail.
