Domaine Lignier-Michelot is located in Morey-Saint-Denis, in the Cote de Nuits, in the heart of the great terroirs of Burgundy. The village of Morey-Saint-Denis is ideally located on the Route des Grands Crus, between Chambolle-Musigny, to the south, and Gevrey-Chambertin, to the north. The entire appellation extends over nearly 150 hectares and has 5 Grands Crus including the illustrious Clos Saint-Denis and Clos de la Roche.
Domaine Lignier-Michelot is a family story that started 3 generations ago, in the village of Morey-Saint-Denis. Directed by Laure and Virgile Lignier, 12 Hectares divided into about 60 plots on some of the best climates of the Cote de Nuits, in the villages of Morey-Saint-Denis, Gevrey-Chambertin, Fixin, Chambolle-Musigny and Nuits-Saint-Georges.
Laure and Virgil take the greatest care in the work of the soils to respect the biodiversity and the typicality of the great terroirs of Burgundy. Indeed, they are very attentive to the work done in the vineyards. Meticulous in culture, Virgile Lignier minimizes interventions in the cellar to guarantee the purity and delicacy of its wines.
The whole range produced by Domaine Lignier-Michelot is aged for 12 months in oak barrels (including a certain proportion in new barrels) and 4 months in stainless steel tanks. The 18 appellations extend exclusively in the Cote de Nuits, from Fixin to Nuits-Saint-Georges but it is in Morey-Saint-Denis that the estate produces the majority of its wines.
Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru, we produce 900 bottles of this Grand Cru from Gevrey-Chambertin. The grapes come from vineyards located on the place called Mazoyeres, a plot that adjoins the Charmes. We vinify this cuvee without destemming (100% whole grape harvest) in order to best respect the characteristics of the terroir while elegance and freshness. At the tasting, it’ is a Grand Cru marked by aromas of persistent red fruits with a slightly minty finish.
