100% Sauvignon Blanc.
Haute Densité represents a very small plot planted on one of the most qualitative terroir of limestone of the Château de Tracy. The high density of plantation (17 000 vines per hectare) is giving a rare complexity to our Sauvignons. As each plant has to draw its reserves from deep within the soil, the roots plunge deeper, increasing consequently the contact with the soil. This wine is produced in very small quantities with around 2500 bottles made.
Grapes were slowly and gently pressed to obtain the highest quality must. The wine was matured in oak barrels (500 liters) for a period of 9 months, with regular stirring of the lees.
Pale yellow with golden highlights, the nose is rich and complex, it opens on aromas of pear, eucalyptus, licorice and rare wooden essences. After a short time in the glass, some “sunny flavours” appear: peach, pineapple, mango, grapefruit. The palate is finesse but vivacity. The attack is sharp, fleshy, developing citrus, vanilla aromas and white pepper on the finish.
Château de Tracy has been run by the same family since the 14th century. Records of the property go back to 1396 when “Les Champs de Crix” vineyard was purchased. Nowadays, this particular vineyard is still planted with Sauvignon and is still a key part of the Domaine, owned by Comtesse A. d'Estutt d'Assay.
The Domaine consists of 33 hectares on the slopes around the Château itself (terroir of flint) and those of Vilmoy, a few kilometres away from Pouilly-sur-Loire (Kimmeridgian limestone terroir). To the north of the Pouilly Fume area, on the hillsides which overlook the Loire, the Château de Tracy vineyard extends from "Tracy hill" to the "Champs de Cris" plateau.
Our work in the vineyard is exclusively focused on the well-being of the plant. We grow the Sauvignon Blanc, the unique grape variety of the Pouilly-Fumé appellation, in its colder latitude and thus, the most expressive.
Our exceptional soils (limestone and flint) highlight the nobility and the strength of the Sauvignon and allow the production of wines both fruity, opened and perfectly well-balanced.
